Good Web Design Is Critical To Your Business

Your website is the “face” of your business online; it is the virtual representation of your company whether your company exists in a physical location or not. When you are doing business online, people cannot see you face-to-face as they would if they were dealing with a “brick and mortar” company. Hence, people do judge your business by its cover. This is where  good web design becomes critical.

Imagine that you are running an offline company. Would you allow your salespeople to be dressed in shabby or casual clothes when they are dealing with your customers? By making your staff dress professionally, you are telling your customers that you respect them and you care about quality. This works to your business’ advantage simply because first impressions matter.

The same holds true with your website. If your website is put together shabbily and looks like a 5 minute “quick fix”, you are literally shouting to your visitors that you are not professional and you do not care about quality.

On the other hand, if you have a totally professional looking website layout, you are giving your visitors the perception that you have given meticulous attention to every detail, you care about professionalism and you want them to have a good experience with your company. You are showing your visitors that you are organized, focused and you really mean business.

In the same manner, you should also have everything related to your company well designed. From business cards and letterhead to promotional brochures. Every little bit matters because as you grow your business, these items become the “face” of your business.

Use a consistent logo design and consistent colors in your printed materials and in your web site design. This will heighten the perception of professionalism by presenting a unified “branding” message to the public. This, along with clear navigation and valuable content will make your web site a valuable representative of your business.
